Abstract (EN)

In this study, nurse observation forms were retrospectively analyzed for pain management for multimodal analgesia in trauma patients in the emergency department. The data in the study were collected by examining the nurse observation forms of 190 patients who applied to the emergency unit of the Çukurova University Balcalı Hospital Health Application Research Center due to trauma. The nurse observation forms of patients who were diagnosed with trauma, who were 18 years of age and over, who could be contacted and receiving treatment for at least 12 hours between January 1 and December 31, 2018 were included in the study. The data of the study were collected using the Patient Information Form (HBF) and Multimodal Analgesia Assessment Form (MADF), which were created by the researchers by scanning the literature. SPSS 23.0 package program was used for statistical analysis of the data. The number, percentage average, minimum, maximum values and standard deviation are given in the descriptive data in the analysis. Paired Simle T test was used in normally distributed data for repeated measures of the binary dependent variable. One Way Anova test was used for data showing normal distribution in repeated measurements with more than one categorical variables. The average age of the patients included in the study is 40.94 ± 15.18 and 65.8% of them are male. While 47.9% of the traumas are due to traffic accidents, there are 37.9% of the patients multiple trauma. According to the data, it was determined that 71.6% of the patients were administered multimodal analgesia and no methods related to non-pharmacological analgesia methods were applied. Pain was evaluated in 55.7% of the patients by nurses. According to the results obtained from our study, as well as it was more common in multimodal analgesia, pain levels were found to be decreased after analgesia in patients who received both multimodal and single type analgesia. This study supports the treatment of trauma pain, which has multiple pain sources, with a multimodal analgesia approach. Although our patient group is young adults, multimodal analgesia methods should be preferred by healthcare professionals in order to reduce the effects of analgesics on organs and other drugs used.
