Abstract (EN)
Spur dikes are the structures that are used to prevent erosion by decreasing the flow velocity and to control sediment deposit. In this thesis, effect of single spur dike on flow resistance and clean water scour were studied experimentally. Experiments were performed in a rectangular open channel, under steady flow conditions. Effect of spur dike's incline angles and length of spur dikes on flow resistance , scour depth and scour volume were studied. At the same time effect of uniformity of bed material on scour is studied by using uniform and non-uniform bed material. Nonlinear multiple regression analysis was made and three different equations were suggested.
