The status of open green areas in zoning plans and the assessment of the current status: The case of Aydın province Efeler district city center

Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the status and current condition of the open green areas in the Efeler district of Aydın province in terms of urban planning. Material and Metods: In this research, urban planning documents, open green system and satellite images, as well as demographic, disaster, and risk information of the city were utilized as materials. Results: The study indicated that the neighborhoods of the Efeler district in Aydın province have insufficient urban green areas in terms of their current state and their distribution is described as amorphous. Conclusion: Therefore, it is emphasized that the implementation of green systems is necessary to increase the urban green areas, and it is crucial to concentrate on important areas within the city to provide more accessible open green spaces for the public. It is also believed that urban green areas are significant for risks and disasters, and they should be given more prominence in planning processes.
