Abstract (EN)

Open and distance learning (ODL) is preferred to take advantage of new career opportunities as a source of lifelong learning. Support services in open and distance learning systems are an important component of the student's retention and success in the system. Career support services mean a system that provides individuals with realistic career goals, career planning services before, during and after the program. The aim of this study is to investigate learners' expectations from the career support system and the career development needs at Anadolu University Open Education System (OES). For this purpose, Career Development Needs Scale and Expectations for Career Support Services Survey were applied to 562 individuals registered in the OES of Anadolu University in 2018-2019 academic year. According to the results of the research, learners in the OES value the opinions and experiences of the occupational members mostly during the career planning process. The expectations from career support services are; to be aware of the online programs and courses for career planning, interest and talent tests, to establish knowledge and connection to the business world. Learners in the OES have more career development needs in terms of career planning, job and education opportunities. Career development needs of individuals vary according to the type of registration and income level.
