Abstract (EN)
Armored vehicles and tanks used in battlefield are faced with many threats and these threats are becoming more lethal every day due to the use of rapidly advancing weapons and chemical technologies. As a solution, strengthening armor has a negative effect on vehicle size/weight and maneuverability. For this reason, the methods of adapting the systems defined as active protection sysems to armored vehicles are currently being studied. These active protection systems eliminate the threat by detecting and destroying or by providing a missed target. In this thesis, the effect of different parameters of high pressure water jet, which can be used as an active protection system in armored vehicles, on anti-tank ammunition was investigated. In the study the effects of water jet velocity, spray nozzle diameter and spray/collision distance parameters on anti-tank ammunition were examined. In the study, numerical analysis of flow dynamics and mechanical effects on the material was made and ANSYS LS-Dyna Computational Fluid Dynamics programme was used. For combinations of different nozzle diameters, water jet speed and collison distance resultant momentum and resultant impuls values are calculated. Determined values for nozzle diameters are 2-4-6 and 10 mm; water jet velocity 150 and 500 m/s; collision distance 200-300-400-600 and 1000 mm. A range between 0.017 and 0.798 kgm/s is observed for resultant momentum. Impuls range varied between 0.0088 and 11.3292 MPa.ms. It is thought that the results of this study will be useful in the development of new type of active protection systems in the fields of defense and weapons industry in the future.
