The mediating role of sustainable leadership on the relationship between teachers' environmental identity and environmental attitude

This study aims to investigate the mediating role of sustainable leadership on the relationship between teachers' environmental identity and environmental attitude. The study also aims to examine teachers' environmental identity, environmental attitude and sustainable leadership levels in terms of demographic characteristics such as gender, age, marital status, education level, position etc., and general statements about the environment. The sample of the study consists of 449 teachers who work in schools in Adana from different branches of the profession. The data was obtained through surveys consisted of Environmental Identity Scale, Environmental Attitude Scale, Sustainable Leadership Scale, demographic information and general statements about the environment. The data was analyzed by the SPSS and SmartPLS programs. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method was used to examine the relationships among the variables and the mediating role. Frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, Independent Samples t Test, One Way ANOVA and Post Hoc Tests (Dunnett and Tamhanes' T2) were used in the data analysis. According to the results of the study, it was determined that the relationships among environmental identity, environmental attitude and sustainable leadership was found but the mediating role of sustainable leadership can not confirmed. According to demographic characteristics; it was observed that gender had an effect on teachers' environmental attitude and it was seen that position, job experience, and settlement had an effect on teachers' sustainable leadership. In terms of general statements about the environment, significant differences between groups were determined.
