Abstract (EN)
The study was conducted in a prospective cohort type in order to determine the incidence of postpartum depression in women in Adıyaman and the factors affecting it. The population of the study consisted of women who received health services from Family Health Centers in Adıyaman city center, between the ages of 25 and 40 and whose pregnancy was 27 weeks of gestation or more. To calculate the sample size, a pilot study was conducted with 22 pregnant women who met the sampling criteria. As a result of the pilot application, the sample size was calculated as 122. The data of the study were collected by face-to-face interview method using Personal Information Form, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, State and Trait Anxiety Inventory, and Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Inventory. Two interviews were conducted with the women, one before the birth and four weeks after the birth. Written permission was obtained from Adıyaman Provincial Health Directorate and Harran University Ethics Committee for the study, and verbal informed consent was obtained from women who agreed to participate in the study. In the evaluation of the data; percent, mean, standard deviation from descriptive statistics, Chi-square from univariate analysis, Man Whithney-U test and Logistic Regression analysis from multivariate analysis were used. In the study, it was determined that 13.5% of the women had postpartum depression. Women's Endinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale mean score was 7.11 (±5.04), Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale mean score was 55.54 (±14.32), State Anxiety Inventory mean score was 93.72 (±6.80), and Trait Anxiety Inventory mean score was 83.30 (±8.26). . 11.5% of women think that the baby affects their marriage negatively. Postpartum depression level was higher in those who had low Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale scores and Trait Anxiety Inventory scores and those who thought that the baby had a negative impact on their marriage (p<0.05). However, the negative effect of the baby on marriage is the most important factor that increases the risk of postpartum depression 5.3 times. In line with these results; In order to prevent postpartum depression, it has been suggested to plan interventions to increase the social support factors of pregnant women and to reduce their anxiety, and to include the factors related to the baby while giving pre- and post-natal education and counseling to the parents.
