A content analysis of the poems of Afghan Turkmen poet Abdul Kerim Behmen

Turks constitute the third largest ethnic group in Afghanistan. Among the Turkic tribes, Uzbeks and Turkmen are the most populous groups. Afghan Turkmen is recognised as the third official language in the country's constitution. The provinces of Badghis, Faryab, Jowzjan, Balkh, Kunduz, Baghlan and Herat are among the areas with the highest concentration of Turkmen. Afganistan'ın kuzeyinde yaşayan Türkmenlerin nüfusu yoğun olarak yaşamaktadırlar ve Afganistan Türkmen Türklerinin büyük bir kısmı Türkmenlerin Tekelerden sonraki en büyük boyu olan Ersarı boyuna mensup olup bunun yanında diğer Türkmen boylarına mensup küçük topluluklar da bulunmaktadır. The Afghan Turkmen, who have lived in the country for many years, are deeply attached to their language and culture and strive to preserve and perpetuate their values. There are many important figures who have made efforts in this regard. This study, which examines the poems of Abdul Kerim Behmen, one of the leading figures in Afghan Turkmen language and literature, provides brief information about the poet's works and evaluates his poems in terms of content. In his poems, the poet aims to contribute to social awakening by calling on the Turkmen people to unite and come together. Behmen, who has a patriotic identity, is an important figure who stands out for his commitment to family values, his deep devotion to Islam, and his embrace of Turkmen identity. These characteristics are clearly evident in his poems. In addition to his half-century teaching career, he sought to educate and raise awareness among the Turkmen people through his works of poetry and prose. The thesis consists of four main sections: General Information about the Turkmen Turks of Afghanistan, The Life, Literary Personality and Works of Abdul Kerim Behmen, An Evaluation of the Content of Abdul Kerim Behmen's Poems, and finally, a Transcription of Selected Poems by Abdul Kerim Behmen.
