Prof. Dr. A.Azim YILDIZIn this study, various soil improvement techniques and the stabilization ofsand soils with fly ash of Afşin-Elbistan Thermal Power were investigated. Theeffect of various proportions of fly ash (%0, %5, %10, %15 and %20) content anddifferent curing periods (7, 14, 28 and 56 days) strength has been investigated.Approximately increment in strength is reported after unconfinedcompressive tests, with addition of fly ash in soil. Also, with increasing curing periodbetter results are observed.As a result, it can be concluded that fly ash of Afşin-Elbistan ThermalPower plant can be used in soil stabilization.Keywords: Fly Ash, Soil Stabilization, Sand, Cement and Unconfined CompressiveTestII
