Abstract (EN)

Ağrı Basin located at north of the Eurasian and Arabian collision zone was formed by compressional tectonism in the late Miocene to early Pliocene. Formation and evolution of the nearly fan shaped basinhave been depending on the activity of north and south bounding faults namely Eleşkirt-Yazıcı and Ağrı faults. Basin fill of the Ağrı Basin is starting with lacustrine and fluvial deposits of Bulanık Formation. Quaternary fluvial and alluvial fan sediments are located on these deposits. Structural features and seismicity of active faults, sedimentological properties of basin fill formed by lacustrine and fluvial deposits, and geomorphological elements in Ağrı Basin and its surrounding area were determined in this study. The formation and geological evolution of the Ağrı Basin is introduced by all these data.
