Abstract (EN)

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of Agustín Barrios Mangoré's "La Catedral," which holds an important place in the classical guitar repertoire. "La Catedral" consists of three different sections: "Preludio Saudade," "Andante Religioso," and "Allegro Solemne." Each section reflects a different aspect of Barrios's compositional style, combining technical complexity with profound emotional depth. The original two-part piece was later expanded with the addition of "Preludio Saudade" twenty years later, resulting in three sections. The first section, "Preludio Saudade," evokes a sense of nostalgia and spiritual longing with its contemplative nature. The second section, "Andante Religioso," reflects the solemnity of a religious ceremony, blending Barrios's technical intricacies with a more introspective quality. The third and final section, "Allegro Solemne," showcases Barrios's extraordinary ability to create a lively and dynamic musical narrative. The analysis concludes that "La Catedral" provides a rich resource for musical analysis and theoretical study with its complex harmonic structure and intertwining melodic lines. Accordingly, this study examines the technical and structural aspects of the "Preludio Saudade," "Andante Religioso," and "Allegro Solemne" sections. It is believed that the data obtained offer significant findings regarding the technical challenges of the piece, performance requirements, guitar technique, and interpretation. Comparative studies with contemporary composers are thought to help us better understand Barrios's influence on guitar music.
