Abstract (EN)

The aim of this in-vitro study is to examine the effects of 5 different mouthwashes on the discoloration of 6 different tooth-colored restorative materials. In this thesis, a total of 360 disc-shaped specimens of 2 mm thickness and 6 mm diameter were prepared from 6 different tooth-colored restorative materials (I Flow, Tetric N-Ceram, Tetric N-Flow, Clearfil Majesty Esthetic, Dyract XP, Equia Forte). The prepared samples were polymerized with a light device (BlueLEX GT-1200W, Monitex, Taiwan) with a light intensity of 1200mW/cm² for 20 seconds. All of the samples were kept in distilled water for 24 hours for post-polymerization. Then, the samples were taken into sealed storage containers with 10 discs in each storage container (n=10). The names of the restorative material and of the Listerine, Colgate Plax, Sensodyne, Meridol, and Klorhex-Plus mouthwashes were written on each storage container. Mouthwashes were added to the classified containers in such a way that the entire surface of the samples remained in the liquid. The samples were kept in 5 different mouthwashes and distilled water for 12 hours, equivalent to 1 year of mouthwash use. Afterwards, all samples were washed with distilled water and dried before color measurement. Color measurements were made before all samples were kept in mouthwashes (T0) and after they were kept in mouthwashes for 12 hours (T1). A spectrophotometer device (Vita Easyshade V) was used for color measurement, and the changes in color values over time according to the composite and mouthwash type were examined with two-way ANOVA and generalized linear models. Bonferroni correction was used for multiple comparisons. Analysis results were presented as mean ± standard deviation. Significance level was taken as p<0.05. According to the results of the statistical analysis, all of the mouthwashes changed the color stability of the restorative materials included in the study. Material-solution match with the highest color change (ΔE) (Mean±SD) among all restorative materials was found in Equia Forte HT Fil-Meridol with a value of 10,870±0,760, the least change is in Tetric N-Flow-Sensodyne with a value of 0.200±0.76. When using mouthwashes, it should be considered that tooth-colored restorative materials can change the color stability. Keywords: Meridol, Listerine, Chlorhex-Plus, Restorative materials, color
