Ahmad b. Huseyin Al-Bosnawi and criticaledition of his work named Al-Isharat Al-Ilamiyya fi Sharh Al-Istiarat Al-Isamiyya

This study examines the life and works of Ahmad b. Ḥusayin al-Bosnavī (d. 1175/1761), along with his treatise al-Ishârâtu'l-Ilâmiyya fî Sharḥ al-Isti'ârât al-'Iṣâmiyya, written as a commentary on Sharḥu'l-'Iṣām 'ale'l-Ferîde, a seminal work in the field of metaphor authored by Iṣâmuddîn al-Isfereyânî. This study is completed in the form of introduction and three chapters. The introduction provides general information about the science and subjects of rhetoric; the principles and types of the art of metaphor is given. The first chapter discusses the life, works, and content of Sharḥu'l-'Iṣām 'ale'l-Ferîde, authored by 'Iṣāmuddîn al-İsfereyânî. In the second chapter, information is given about the life and works of Ahmad b. Huseyin al-Bosnavî, and then detailed information about the name of the work called al-Ishârâtu'l-Ilâmiyya fî Sharḥ al-Isti'ârât al-'Iṣâmiyya, the affiliation to the author, the person to whom the work and the content of the work are presented. Subsequently, the methodology he followed in the work, the way he addressed the subjects, the introduction of the work, his references, and sources are discussed. The final part addresses the description of the manuscript and the approach taken in establishing the text. The third chapter presents the original critical text of the work. The conclusion section summarizes the findings obtained from the examination of the work.
