Abstract (EN)
It is known that Curcânî's (d. 471/1078-79) work el-'Avâmilu'l-mie, written on amils, has earned the appreciation of scholars. Since the day it was written, the work has been taught in madrasas and has been the subject of numerous commentaries, glosses, and completions. Sa'dullâh es-sağîr, written on the mentioned work of Curcânî by Sa'dullâh el-Berde'î (d. 793/1390), who gained fame with his work Hadâiku'd-dekâik, is also one of the significant works included in the madrasa curriculum. This work generally presents linguistic topics in concise and precise expressions. Similarly, it briefly points out the disputes among linguists without going into detail, informing the reader. It conveys some of the terms' technical definitions and others' lexical definitions. Berde'î mentions almost all different i'râbs for the phrases he meticulously analyzed in el-'Avâmilu'l-mie. Although both el-'Avâmilu'l-mie and Sa'dullâh es-sağîr were part of the madrasa education system, they were not free from problematic expressions. Therefore, some linguists conducted gloss-style studies to address the shortcomings of these works and to convey the uncorrectable expressions to the reader. Although the first gloss written on Sa'dullâh es-sağîr belongs to Hâmid es-Sûsî, it is not well known. The gloss that gained fame among scholars and has served as an auxiliary resource for understanding Sa'dullâh es-sağîr for years belongs to Gerevî. Comprehensive research has shown that this gloss has not been studied either in Turkey or abroad until now. Gerevî's gloss is much more voluminous than Sûsî's gloss. While Gerevî occasionally benefited from Hâmid es-Sûsî, he often criticized him, claiming that Sûsî did not sufficiently understand Sa'dullâh es-sağîr. Additionally, Gerevî sometimes critiques Curcânî and Berde'î. Thus, it can be stated that a critical tone predominates in his work. The gloss focuses on different grammatical aspects and conveys in detail the literary topics discussed in Sa'dullâh es-sağîr. It also addresses the disputes among linguists and presents his preferred view. In this study, after providing information about the general conditions of the period in which Gerevî lived, his life, scholarly personality, and works, a comprehensive analysis of his gloss, which constitutes our subject, has been conducted.
