Abstract (EN)

The 19th century, described as the last century of the Ottoman Empire, witnessed numerous political and social developments. In this century, particularly the year 1876 (H. 1293) is referred to as the "Year of the Three Sultans" because three sultans held power during that year, making it historically significant. This study focuses on Sultan Murad V, who reigned for only 93 days but attracted historians' interest due to his accession and deposition process. Like his uncle Sultan Abdülaziz, Sultan Murad V ascended to the throne through deposition and was similarly dethroned. His short reign has not been sufficiently documented, partly due to censorship practices, and has been examined in limited detail within academic literature. The aim of this study is to transcribe and comprehensively evaluate the work titled Tarih-i Sultan Murad-ı Hamis, written by Ahmed Saib Bey, who personally witnessed this period, thereby introducing it to the literature. Although the work serves as a primary source on the reign of Murad V, it has not been subject to a detailed analysis until now. The study consists of four chapters: the first chapter introduces Ahmed Saib Bey's life and works; the second analyzes his historical perspective and style; the third evaluates the content of the work; and the fourth provides the transcribed text. In this way, the work has been brought into the academic world and made accessible to researchers.
