Gender differences in intelligence have been the subject of numerous studies. Research findings on intelligence related to gender one controversial and inconclusive. Research shows that people hold subjective beliefs about their intellectual level as well as others.Culture has been found to be one of the essential variables shaping people?s perceptions about intelligence related variables. Research related to gender, culture and intelligence shows that people of different cultures hold different beliefs about gender differences in intelligence. In some countries, for example men are thought to be more intelligence has been studied in many countries, but not in Turkey.The purpose of this study was to investigate people?s perceptions of intelligence level by gender. The participants of the study included 172 women and 136 men. A survey questionaire was used to collect data about the participants? perceptions of others? intelligence.Data analysis showed no difference between the levels of wives and husbands that of siblings. The only difference obtained was the diffrence between male children and female children rated by fathers favoring male children. Findings of this study partly contradict other studies carried out in other countries.
