Evaluation of knowledge level and behaviors of women of fertile age visiting the Family HEALTH center on family planning methods

Aim: The aim of this research is to learn the level of knowledge of women of childbearing age who applied to Bağcılar Family Health Center No. 20 for any reason, and to investigate their behavior on this issue. The population of the research consists of 7838 women of reproductive age, aged 15-49, registered in Bağcılar Family Health Center No. 20. Materials and Methods: Our survey form consisting of 50 questions was applied to 200 fertile women, the sample size we calculated for our research project from this universe, by face-to-face interview technique. Results: When we look at the distribution of the answers given to the knowledge and behavior propositions of the women who applied to the Family Health Center, it is seen that the rate of correct answers varies between 28.0% and 85.5%. It is seen that those with high school and higher education level give correct answers to information propositions at a higher rate than those with secondary school and below. Those with low economic status gave a higher percentage of correct answers. Working women gave more correct answers in all of these propositions. Women with a marriage age of 30 and over gave correct answers at a higher rate. It was observed that those who used modern methods gave correct answers to these propositions at a higher rate. Conclusion: In line with the data obtained from the research, when we look at the distribution of the answers given to the knowledge and behavior propositions of the women who applied to the Family Health Center, it is seen that the rate of correct answers varies between 28.0% and 85.5%. This shows that the women should be informed about family planning. In order to determine whether any modern/traditional family planning method is suitable for the person, it is recommended that the units that can reach the families in the first step, such as the Family Health Center, which is related to the subject, should be in close communication with the families, at the point that it is necessary to consult the health institution and get family planning counseling.
