Abstract (EN)
In this study, AISI 316 Ti stainless steel material has been turned with cemented carbide inserts. In the experiments different coated inserts having different insert geometry were used. The effect of insert nose radius and chip breaker geometry on cutting forces and surface roughness was investigated. The experiments were carried out on a conventional lathe using different cutting parameters namely feed rate and cutting speed. The cutting forces were measured during turning the stainless steel material. A dynamometer was used to measure cutting forces and moment. A cutting tool mounting apparatus was designed and manufactured for the conventional lathe. The surface roughness of the machined parts were measured. The obtained data were evaluated. The experimental results have shown that cutting forces increased with increasing feed rate.
