Abstract (EN)
With this study, it is aimed to examine the perceptions of academicians of İzmir Dokuz Eylül University on mobbing at universities, and to determine whether the perceptions of academicians on mobbing differ according to the variables of sex, age, marital status, title and faculty. In this study which is in the model of descriptive survey, the universe is 2400 academicians of Dokuz Eylül University. Stratified sampling has been used while determining the sample of the study. The sample consists of 1261 academicians working at thirteen faculties in Dokuz Eylül University on 2011-2012 academic year. A scale named ?Scale of Mobbing At Workplaces? has been used as the data collection instrument in this research. Frequency, percentage, average have been calculated through the statistical analysis of the survey data. In comparing the groups the Independent Samples t test, One Way Anova, Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U tests have been used. The results of the research show that academicians are exposed to mobbing behaviours in the level of ?I totally disagree?, in other words hardly ever, and that female academicians suffer from mobbing more than males and that single academicians are more exposed to mobbing behaviours than the married. The academicians in the age groups of ?29 and below? and ?30-39? think that they are more affected from mobbing than the academicians at the age of ?40-49? and ?60 and over?. According to the title variable, the effect of mobbing on research assistants and specialists is more than the other academicians. Whereas mobbing has been most experienced in the faculties of Nursing, Maritime and Divinity respectively, the scale means of the faculties of Architecture, Engineering and Science are the least. Despite the findings of the study have parallels with the studies in the literature, the high scale means of the three faculties that have the fewest academicians contradict with the finding that mobbing is more experienced in big organizations.
