Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, design and application of a hybrid boost soft switching DC-DC converter circuit has been done in order to increase the output voltages of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic (PV) which has low voltage values with higher voltage gain and to eliminate the switching losses caused by hard switching. The conventional DC-DC boost converter requires a high duty cycle to achieve high output voltage, which poses various problems. Some DC-DC boost converter models such as Hybrid boost DC-DC converter have been developed to achieve higher voltage gain with low duty cyle. In addition, active soft switching methods are used to increase the efficiency of DC-DC circuits. Many active soft switching methods have been developed in the literature. These methods are generally designed as ZVT (zero voltage switching) for MOSFET switches and ZCT (zero current switching) for IGBT switches. Therefore, in this thesis, both ZVT and ZCT active soft switching methods have been developed and applied to the hybrid boost DC-DC converter which has higher voltage gain compared to conventional boost DC-DC converter. After the analysis and design of ZVT and ZCT based Hybrid boost DC-DC converter, Simplorer and Orcad-PSpice programs were used for simulation. In addition, experimental studies of the proposed circuit were made and the experimental results were compared with the results of the simulation study.
