Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of naproxen sodium + codeine phosphate (550/30 mg) and dexketoprofen trometamol + paracetamol (25/300 mg) in the treatment of acute dental pain. 62 patients who applied to Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with complaints of acute pericoronitis caused by a lower semi-impacted wisdom tooth were included in the study. The patients were randomly divided into two groups, and naproxen sodium + codeine phosphate (550/30 mg) was given to group A, and dexketoprofen trometamol + paracetamol (25/300 mg) was given to group B. They were asked to record the pain they felt to VAS score at the 6th, 12th, 18th, 24th hours, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th day after the first dose for evaluate the pain. The collected data were statistically analyzed and interpreted using the SPSS program. 51 of the individuals in the study were women, 11 were men, and their average age was 22.94. The average age of the individuals in group A was 23.74±5.4 and group B was 22.45±5.6. While 12.9% of the patients in group A are male, the number of females is 87.1%. On the other hand, the number of men and women in group B is 22.6% and 77.4%, respectively. Initial VAS values of both groups were found to be similar. When the VAS changes between groups were examined according to time, it was seen that there was a statistically significant change in group B on the 7th day. As a result, the similarity of VAS values shows that dexketoprofen trometamol + paracetamol combination can be preferred as a solution in acute pain treatment.
