Abstract (EN)

In this study, Turkey's largest lagoon, lake, (in Ramsar area of International Importance Wetlands Convention), Akyatan Lagoon were monitored between June 2008-November 2008 period, using the physical and chemical parameters such as temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, alkalinity, electrical conductivity ( Ei), salinity, dissolved solids (TDS), chloride (Cl-), suspended solids (TSS), sulfate, total phosphorus (TP), nitrite (NO2), nitrate (NO3), parameter variations of 14 different stations at monthly intervals. The data obtained from this current work were applied to MIKE 21 HD and AD computer program developed by the firm DHI in order to determine the variation of water quality. In conclusion, Akyatan lagoon was classified as II. quality class according to water quality parameter DO amount in surface water. At the western part of lagoon, salinity, EC, TDS and Cl- values, the values were found higher than sea water. It was found that the values of TSS were increased by the rainfall, wind and waves effect. Amount of sulphate were found low but compare to drainage canals for sulphate, lower levels observed in drainage canals. In order to monitor the water quality of all parameters analyzed; bathymetry of the lake was created using the computer program MIKE 21 HD and AD have been and information about the current state of the quality parameters were obtained.
