Abstract (EN)
In this study, Injuries often occur in schools and are the most significant cause of mortality for school-age kids globally, and injuries significantly influence school completion. Consequently, prompt and thorough treatment of such events will decrease morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to assess primary school teachers' knowledge about First aid in Al-Diwaniyah, Iraq. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in Diwaniyah in Iraq from January 1st to June 15th, 2022, to assess the knowledge and attitudes of primary school teachers about First aid. Three hundred fifty-five forms were distributed, 354 of them were valid for use in statistical analysis, and one condition was not suitable for entry because most of the questions were not answered. Overall, the results indicate that (91%) of the teachers were unsure of the knowledge related to first aid, followed by those who did not respond cognitively and had no response (6.5%), followed by those who did not have a cognitive response and were yes (2.5%). This research work recommended educating teachers about the importance of First aid, teaching teachers how to provide First aid to children in various dangerous situations such as burns, falls, injuries, bleeding, and fractures, and establishing a First aid box in every school and supplying it with critical medical materials in First aid, teaching teachers about bleeding disorders and how to provide First aid.
