Abstract (EN)

This study analyses the Sufi dimension of the Alevî tradition within the framework of intellectual elements, which are accepted as one of the main criteria for the evaluation of a phenomenon in the history of Sufism. As it is known, in order for a tradition to belong to Sufism, it is stated that it must contain elements in four main areas: intellectual, actual, material and human. This study aims to examine the Sufi dimension of the Alevî tradition in terms of intellectual elements. The scope of the research in the context of intellectual elements is shaped within the framework of the concepts of wahdat al-wujūd, nūr al-Muhammad, inspiration, discovery, dream, kerāmah and rijāl al-ghayb.Depending on the political, socio-economic and cultural developments in the 1990s in the world and in the country, different discussions have been carried out about the hearths and groups belonging to the Alevî tradition; the subject has been discussed out of its channel, largely ignoring the Sufi dimension of the tradition. The methodological approaches recently developed in the History of Islamic Sects have brought to the forefront the study of different traditions with a mentality analysis approach. In this approach, concepts and institutions are very important elements. The presentation of the Sufi dimension of the Alevî tradition in the context of intellectual elements will make an important contribution to the discipline of the History of Islamic Sects. There are limited studies on the Sufi dimension of the Alevî tradition in the existing literature, and this study aims to make an important contribution by filling the gap in the field. The basic assumption of the study is that the hearths belonging to the Alevî tradition have a Sufi nature. In line with the aforementioned assumption and objectives of the study, it is aimed to make an examination of the frameworks of the concepts determined in the history of Sufism, then to reveal the status of these concepts in the hearths and groups belonging to the Alevî tradition, and then to analyse the data obtained in a comparative manner. Our qualitative research was conducted on the basis of descriptive and phenomenological approach. The data of the research were obtained by analysing the sources of the sample, which was determined as the dependent variable, belonging to the history of Sufism and Alevî tradition by document scanning method. These data were analysed comparatively according to the independent variables of the main schools in the Sufi tradition and the hearths belonging to the Alevî tradition. As a result of these analyses, it was concluded that the hearths and groups belonging to the Alevî tradition consist of communities with Sufi thought and cult life practices.
