Abstract (EN)
Güzelhisar Creek and its environs in the city of Aliağa-İzmir were studied via its soils, vegetation and waters in order to determine the heavy metal pollution if there is. From 12 localities, every 3 months soil samples and every 1.5 months olive leaf and water samples were collected for one year. Boron and nitrate contents of the water samples were also determined. According to the results, the soils of the region had almost no problem in terms of total heavy metals and infact none interms of plant available (extractable) heavy metal contents. Only in some of the soils total Ni contents were slightly over the reference values. Generally the soils sampled from the 5th location some times had high total heavy metal contents. The heavy metal contents of the olive leaves were measured generally within the range reported by different authors. In some sampling dates of some localities, the Ni and Co contents of the olive leaves were slightly over the limits. No heavy metals were detected in the water samples. Their nitrate contents were also low. However, in some of the water samples boron was found high.
