Abstract (EN)
Alcohol usage is became an important health problem in many population in nowadays. Because of the liver is the main place of the alcohol metabolism, chronic alcohol uptake cause to many serious disease mainly in liver. Alcoholic liver disease is one of the important liver diseases. For the purpose of comparing the protective effects of silymarine, resveratrol and vitamin E, that are strong antioxidants, in liver disease which is improve due to chronic alcohol usage and described with oxidative stres; 40 male rats were divided in 5 groups (n=8). Grp 1: control group (K), grp 2: alcohol group (AK), grp 3: resveratrol group (RSV), grp 4: silymarine group (SLY), grp 5: vitamin E group (E VIT). Our study last 4 weeks. All of the rats were feeded with Modified Liquid Diet (MSD) (cow milk + glucose). Except control group, %7,2 ethanol was added to MSD. In group 3; 150 mg/kg/day silymarine, in group 3; 50 mg/kg/day resveratrol and in group 5; 300 mg/kg/day vitamin E was given with gavage daily. At the end of the study, all groups blood samples and liver tissues were taken and the rats were sacrified. The serums and the tissues were stored at -700C until analysis. In serum samples, AST, ALT, ALP, TP, HDL-K, TBARS and PON1 were measured. In liver tissues, TBARS, GSH, MPO and PON1 were measured. The antioxidant treatment, that was performed to prevent the liver disease due to chronic alcohol usage, was statistical significant in respect to AST, ALT, PON1 and TBARS in serum samples. In liver samples, treatment was statistical significant in respect to TBARS and MPO. According to this, resveratrol which is one of the antioxidants that we tried to compare the protective effects against to alcoholic liver disease, provided stronger healing on MPO and PON1 levels in tissue samples and on PON1 and ALT levels in serum samples comparing with silymarine and vitamin E. silymarine was provided stronger healing in respect to AST levels comparing with the other antioxidants. Vitamin E was provided stronger healing in respect to TBARS levels both in serum and tissue samples comparing with silymarine and resveratrol. In conclusion, we can say that, resveratrol has a stronger hepatoprotective effect on preventing liver disease based on alcohol consumption in rats, in comparison to slymarine and vitamin E.
