Abstract (EN)

Orientalism, described as the afford of the Western mentality to understand the East, has been continuing its studies since it gained a scientific character. The books written by Qur?an researchers in Germany which lead orientalist researches ın 19th century are the basic reference materials for the orientalists. One of the most important representative raised by German orientalism is undouptedly Rudi Paret ( 1901 ? 1983 ).R.Paret, in contrast with the orientalists before him, cricitised the prophet and holy book of İslam but never affronted or slandered them. One of the different sides of Paret is that he defends that the Qur?an text is quthentic without argument and Muhammed (S) has been accomplished the prophethood that he undertook succecfully.Paret, defined the understanding of the Qur?an text as a problem, claimed that the inharmonious composition resulted by the imperfect design sections and verses prevented the book to be more understandable. By his own methods ?parallel passage? and ?historical critique? he produced the works called ?Qur?anic Interpretation? and ?Qur?anic Commentory and Index?Key Words: Rudi Paret, Orientalism, Qur?an, German Orientalists.
