Abstract (EN)
In the following research the situations and problems of Turkish immigrantworker children in compulsory and vocational education systems of Germany and theNetherlands and the policies towards them were analyzed. The study field of the research is composed of the educational policiestowards Turkish immigrant worker children in the educational systems of Germanyand the Netherlands. This research is a descriptive study and the method conductedin the study is literature review. At the end of the research it was found that;Turkish children are far beyond native and other foreign children in theeducational systems of Germany and the Netherlands although there has beensome improvements compared to the previous generations.Turkish children do not have sufficient attendance rates to the pre-schoolinstitutions which are very important for their integration to the host countryand which are a preparation for the school system. Most of the Turkish children attend low level secondary schools in thesecountries, moreover some do leave these schools without a diploma. Some Turkish children attend special schools as they do not havesufficient language proficiencies, and because of this negative start only afew can achieve in universities. It is thought that as Germany has not accepted that it is a country ofimmigration, it mostly applies monocultural education and disregardsintercultural education. It is also thought that the policies Germany applieswith the aim of integration may have become similar to assimilation. It is thought that Turkish children are rarely included in policies aiming atimproving the educational situations of immigrants in Germany. It is stated in the law that there is intercultural education towardsimmigrant children in the Netherlands, but it is not thought that this approachis widely applied. It is thought that there is also mono-cultural educationpolicy in the Netherlands and especially after the abandonment of mothertongue courses the policies may become similar to assimilation.
