Abstract (EN)

At the basic of Amartya Sen's thought, the concept of "capability", or the capacity to fulfill the functions that make up a good life takes part. Stating of poverty cannot be only related to income alone, Sen argues that in most cases, methods of measuring income do not consider various arguments which eliminate poverty. For Sen, poverty should be seen as a lack of talents that limit their freedom to achieve something beyond low income. He argues that the best way to compare and evaluate the freedoms those different people have in different societies, is to examine their "talent sets", in other words, the maximum functions that perform the life, available to the particular group. While talking about the significance of freedom of access to educational opportunities, health care, sanitation, nutrition, political participation, Sen draws the normative domain of the ability to live a life worth living. The search for what constitutes human prosperity by Amartya Sen, who criticizes the utilitarian thought aiming to maximize the total interest of "homo economicus", forms the general structure of our study.
