Socio-cultural and economic change in Amasra town

The purpose of this study is to investigate the day to day dimensions of the social, cultural and economic changes in the town of Amasra after the establishment of coal mines and the rise in emigration to the town of Amasra. The research underlying this work was carried out using qualitative methods and techniques. In addition to observational techniques, in-depth interviews with individuals living in Amasra were conducted in determining economic and cultural change, and the data obtained was examined in accordance with the rules of scientific methods. In the theoretical part of the research, the literature about the town, migration, modernization, cultural change, and the secondary sources were examined. The findings of the research in this study were analyzed and a detailed profile of the social, cultural and economic change that took place in Amasra was presented. The dimensions that Amasra needs to address on the basis of a detailed examination of the present-day change in various economic sectors are as follows; The previous structural features of the mining industry have changed. State-run coal mines have narrowed down, and this area continues to work in the private sector. Today, studies on the establishment of thermal power plants in Amasra are seen as an important development.The tourism sector is an important source of livelihood for the people of Amasra. The fishing and souvenir sector is the livelihood of the Amasra people in connection with the tourism sector.
