Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the Scale of Using Safe Technology in the Operating Room. Mixed method was used in this study. In this context, 25 healthcare professionals took part in the qualitative section. MAXQDA 2022 programme was used in data analysis. According to healthcare professionals, while safe technology is defined as not causing harm, it has been determined that "cable and connection problems due to non-controlling, device function problems" are the leading situations situations that adversely affect patient and employee safety in the operating room due to technology. Participants made suggestions for the use of safe technology in the operating room, "using lists for routine control and device maintenance and calibrations". The quantitative part was also conducted methodologically. In the first stage, a draft scale was prepared. In the second stage, scope, content and language suitability were evaluated. In line with the opinions of the experts, the 53-item the Scale of Using Safe Technology in the Operating Room, consisting of three different scale sections: general practices (13 items), surgical team (18 items), and anesthesia team (22 items), was finalized. In the third stage, a preliminary application was made with 54 healthcare professionals. In the fourth stage, the effectiveness of each scale section was evaluated separately, and validity and reliability studies were carried out. As a result of the explanatory and confirmatory factor analyzes, the Scale of Using Safe Technology in the Operating Room, consisting of three separate scale sections and 45 items, was obtained. Cronbach alfa values of the general practices, surgical team and anesthesia team sections of the scale were calculated as 0.928, 0.906 and 0.946, respectively. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the Scale of Using Safe Technology in the Operating Room is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to evaluate safe technology use in the operating room.
