Abstract (EN)

Kurdish problem has been one of the most challenging issues of Turkey for many years. Although the problem has been among the major problems for many years, let alone solving the problem, even naming it has been really difficult. Therefore, this study aims to analyze both the description and the solutions of the Kurdish problem within the lights of Ibn Khaldun's major concepts which are asabiyah and umran. However, the study doesn't aim to describe the problem with all dimensions but it aims to investigate it within the scope of Ibn Khaldun. Because the religion factor plays an important role on the basis of Ibn Khaldun's theories and also inasmuch as Turks and Kurds are Muslim communities in majority, it would be suitable to investigate the Kurdish problem on the basis of Islam in general and in Ibn Khaldun's viewpoint. Therefore, according to Ibn Khaldun, the deterioration of asabiyah ties and umran, in historical context, forms the basis of the Kurdish problem. In order to solve the Kurdish problem, the asabiyah ties should be empowered again and the umran conditions of both Turks and Kurds should be improved. Key words: Kurdish Problem, Ibn Khaldun, Asabiyah, Umran
