An analysis of the relationship between students perception and teachers perception of major errors (tense, article, active/passive, modals, if and wish clauses, adjectives, adverbs, reported speech) experienced by the prepatory students with regard to grammer in EFL at the University of Gaziantep

This thesis aims at analysing major errors experienced by the students in Foreign Language Learning in preparatory section at the University of Gaziantep. In the specification of the errors both learners' and teachers' perception are taken into consideration. In addition to this examples of learners' paragraph writings are used to illustare actual errors for some grammatical structures. The subjects were seventy five students which form three randomly selected groups. Data on the perception of errors were gathered by means of a student evaluation and a teacher evluation form on a 5-point scale. A correlational study was conducted to investigate the relationship between students' perception and teachers' perception of errors. The result of the correlational studies indicated that there were generally low but statistically significant relationship between (a) students' perception and teachers' perception (b) students'perception and actual errors, (c) teachers' perception and actual errors.
