Isolation of Aeromonas and Vibrio species from fish samples in Ankara

In this study, existance of Aeromonas and Vibrio species in total number of 56fish samples consisting of 46 seawater and 10 freshwater, collected from differentmarketplaces, in Ankara was studied. The samples were brought to thelaboratory under sterilized contitions and examined at the same day. From 45(97,82%) of examined 46 seawater fish samples and from 3 (30%) of examined 10freshwater fish samples motile Aeromonas spp. is isolated. From those samples,28 of seawater fish isolations are defined as A.hydrophila (60,87%), 16 asA.sobria (34,78%), and 8 as A.caviae (17,39%). Besides, 3 of freshwaterisolations are defined as A.hydrophila (30%).44 out of 46 (95,65%) examined seawater fish samples, Vibrio spp. is isolated.From those isolations 18 (40,91%) are defined as V.alginolyticus, 17 (38,63%) asV.fluvialis, 16 (36,36%) as V.damsela, 11 (25%) as V. harveyii, 8 (18,18%) as V.hollisae, 8 (18,18%) as V. vulnificus, 3 (6,81%) as V. mimicus, 3 (6,81%) as V.cincinnatiensis, 2 (4,54%) as V. metschnikovii and 1 (2,27%) as V. anguillarum.In the seawater fish samples which Aeromonas and Vibrio was isolated, it wasfound that the number of coliform microorganisms was maximum 0,7x104unit/ml, minimum 0,03x104 unit/ml, and the number of E.coli was maximum0,2x104 unit/ml, minimum 0,03x104 unit/ml.
