IV ABSTRACT RELATIONSHIP OF PARENT'S AGGRESSION AND STUDENT'S AGGRESSION Zeynep BOLAT KARATAŞ MA Thesis, Department of Education Sciences Supervisor: Yrd. Doç. Dr. Mehmet BİLGİN January 2002, 84 pages In this research, the relation between aggression levels of students and parents, gender, class level and sibling pair were investigated. The subjects were 276 students having only one sibling and their parents living in Yüreğir and Seyhan Municipals of Adana. To evaluate aggression levels of students and parents an Aggression Inventory has been used. Among 276 students those who got lowest and highest scores on the inventory were interviewed though Semi Structured Interview Schedule (14 Students). To investigate demographic variables a questionnaire was also used. Analaysis of data was done with analaysis of variance, scheffe test and t tests for paired comparison. Results revealed that those students having a more aggressive parents scored significantly higher on aggression inventory as compared to those having moderate or less aggressive parents. There was no difference found as related to students' gender, class level and sibling pairs on their aggression scores. However a significant difference was found between class level, mothers' aggression level and students' aggression scores. To sum up, parents' aggression level increase students' aggression level tends to increase also. Keywords: Aggression, Violence, Student, Parents
