Comparison of Antakya traditional houses and Vakifli village traditional houses

In this thesis, it is aimed to compare the traditional houses of Antakya with the traditional houses of Vakıflı Village. Based on this, the selected houses were examined and compared through on-site observations and drawings obtained from municipalities. In this context, in the first part of the thesis study, rural and urban settlement areas were introduced by giving information about the history of Hatay city and Vakıflı Village. Due to the changes and developments that civilizations have made to the city of Hatay, after a brief explanation of civilizations in tabular form, the spatial development of the city of Hatay, the factors affecting this urban and spatial development have been examined and tried to be explained. In the second part of the research, the structural characteristics, architectural features of the rural traditional houses of Hatay and Vakıflı Village, the use of courtyards that are still present today, and the plan typologies of these structures were tried to be explained as shapes. Afterwards; Traditional house typologies in the determined area in Hatay urban and Vakıflı Village rural settlements were examined and tried to be explained. In the third part of the research; The houses examined in these two different regions were compared and explained in the form of a table. A conclusion was reached by considering all these sections.
