Evaluation of water elements in Antalya urban parks in terms of aesthetics and functionality

In this study, it was tried to determine the characteristics of the existing water elements in the urban parks of Antalya city and to find out the opinions and preferences of people concerning the aesthetics and functionality of water elements in these parks. To that end, a literature search regarding the aesthetic and functional effects of the water in the landscape on the people was done. These effects were tested by questionnaires implemented in four urban parks in Antalya city, namely Atatürk Kültür Park, Atatürk Park, Düden Park and Karaalioğlu Park.The study revealed that the inhabitants of Antalya city generally found the water elements in the studied parks aesthetic and functional and they would like to see the water elements in the form of falling water. The study also revealed that there were some significant differences on their opinions and preferences depending on their gender, age and educational level.KEYWORDS: Water element, aesthetic, functionality, park, urban park, Antalya
