Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT In this research, the development of ancient coroplastic art and its relations to other contemporary art mediums have been studied. The examples of coroplastic that has reached modern times, by showing us the life styles, art and beliefs of ancient men, actually tell the tale of the people of that period. At the same time, coroplastics carry the social life and status of ancient women to today, of whom we know very little from other sources. When we look at these examples, we see very clearly how the problems that were caused by social class difference and inequality effected art. A characteristic that appears when the historical development chronology of the coroplastics are examined shows us that the changing conditions and new perspectives into life, created a progress in art that reflected itself also in coroplastic art. Thus, one sees naivety together with more independent and free posed human figures in the examples of this art form. All of these are not different from the development sequences and spread of the other presently recognised art forms. In this research, it has been seen that, coroplastic art carries a very important role on the development and spread of the mainstream of art itself. iii
