Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to delve deeply into the debates surrounding the sense of touch in ancient Greek philosophy and to analyze how these discussions are reflected in the Islamic philosophical tradition, particularly through the works of Aristotle's commentators. The notion that the sense of touch plays a crucial role in the existence and continuity of life provides a robust foundation for ongoing philosophical inquiries in contemporary academic studies. By highlighting this fact within the history of philosophy, the study seeks to contribute to classical sensory studies, with a special focus on the sense of touch, and to illustrate how Islamic philosophers engaged with the commentators' period on this specific topic. By concretizing the significant philosophical connections between ancient Greek and Islamic philosophy through the sense of touch, the study aims to foster a comparative analysis of these two traditions. Ultimately, this research aspires to deepen the understanding of the sense of touch and to expand the body of knowledge in this field.
