Sea wars in the Ancient Greek world (800-400 BC)

The sea was an important factor in the Ancient Greek world, geographically, politically, conceptually, and especially militarily. Moreover, strategic conditions have shown that many cities need to maintain a navy to contribute to larger alliances and coalitions as well as for local defense. In this context, in this study which deals with the naval battles that took place during the Persian-Greek Wars and the Peloponnesian War, the main role of the navies in the wars was emphasized by focusing mostly on the strategic and tactical aspects of the wars. Parallel to this, the activities of the navy were examined and the importance of naval power in ancient times and the extent to which this power was used were revealed.
