Abstract (EN)
The phenomenon of form and color in the painted sculptures of Ancient Greek art has an important place among the subjects examined in the art of sculpture, which is one of the forms of artistic expression in the Ancient Period. This study, B.C. Starting from the 6th century BC. Covering a wide range of time from the 1st century BC, it includes an effort to understand the evolution of colors, form and aesthetic properties of the sculptures in the works of Ancient Greek sculptors. The color characteristics of the painted statues, which constitute the main structure of ancient Greek sculpture art, primarily reflect a realistic color palette. Sculptors have given importance to the use of color in order to make figures and scenes more distinct, to increase emotional expression and to present a more effective narrative to the audience. The clothes, skin tones, hair and other details in the sculptures are emphasized with the phenomenon of color. However, over time many of these painted details have become eroded or destroyed. For this reason, surviving Ancient Greek statues often appear to be made of white marble. The range of colors seen in art throughout the Ancient Greek Civilization period carries aesthetic, religious and symbolic values in sculpture as well as in painting. In this study, color pigments, their application techniques and methods, especially used in Ancient Greek art sculptures, as well as various arts seen during the period, were examined. Sculptures belonging to this period of art, in which color was used, were periodically researched in terms of their form features and evaluated in terms of color diversity and visual effects. Research on the phenomenon of form and color in painted sculptures of Ancient Greek art and new findings provide significant contributions to the literature in understanding the aesthetic understanding, artistic preferences and cultural values of the Ancient Period. This study tries to contribute to the process of carrying the artistic heritage of the past to the present by examining the evolution of Ancient Greek art and technical developments in sculpture.
