Abstract (EN)
In this study, the concept of wisdom and wisdom in Antiquity is discussed in general. From the philosophers of Miletus to the Stoa and Epicurus schools, the wise and wisdom of many thinkers were included. Due to its geopolitical location, both the cultural interaction of the port city of Athens has increased and it has helped to spread the philosophy in a more open environment. Philosophia (love of wisdom) became a beginning of this period with the spread of philosophy. The changing living conditions led to questioning the way of thinking, tradition, beliefs and views of nature of Greek people. It has been shown that the concept of wisdom has a rich content of this period, a theoretical explanation as well as its practical meaning for life owing to Antiquity. The birth of these concepts and the wisdom related to the wisdom of the Seven Wise, whose boundaries of meaning were determined, are included. It has been shown that the love of wisdom was born in this period as a result of the efforts of the thinkers of the Miletus School, Thales, Anaximandros and Anaximenes in the search for truth. In addition, we explained that Pythagoras from the Ionian School has a different meaning by adding the moral characteristic of wisdom. We have explained that Heraklitos wisdom can be wise in the philosophy of knowledge, and that self-knowledge and being measured are the highest values. Then, we examined the elephants of Elea School, Xenophanes, Parmenides and Zenon, which gave a social meaning to the wisdom and wisdom and brought a different perspective than the previous philosophers. In the second chapter, we examined that the wisdom of sophists is more relativistic than the nature thinkers and they have very different meanings to wisdom. At the same time the philosophers before them did not mention any wages when defining wisdom and suggesting that we love it; the first time the sophists attempted to measure wisdom with money, we conveyed this tradition as well. In the third chapter, it is discussed in detail in this thesis that Socrates, another important thinker of Antiquity, told us that true wisdom can only be attained with a virtuous life and that we can only reach it as long as we have the right knowledge. Plato, through his works that have survived to the present day, envisioned the wisdom of his teacher Socrates as wisdom, being wise, being well, being fair, making right decisions. Finally, the wisdom and wisdom of the Stoa and Epicurus schools are discussed. Keywords: Antiquity, Wise, Wisdom, Virtue, Temperance, Mind, Well, Happiness
