The stage design of Anton Chekhov's play Seagull adapted to the present

In the chapter one of this paper, the author Çehov's life, the movement that affected him, his understanding for the view of art, and the inspiration and emotion that he gained when writing the play Seagull. Also, the period when the play was written and the play's analysis are also dealt with. In the chapter two, the restaging of a forgotten theatrical play and the stage design made by Stanislavski, the great director and actor of the Czarist Russian era that, again, popularized the play in that period, are analyzed and discussed. Besides, we analyze the stage designs of the play Seagull staged by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Theater and Oyunbaz Theater. In the chapter three, the final part, we do a research for a new stage along with the idea that what the design would look like should we stage it today and evaluate the process of creating this idea and the analyses and discussions done for the idea in question. Furthermore, we try to create the plastic values on the basis of costume sketches, decorative graphics, and modeling works and make efforts to create a connection between the stage design from past to present.
