Abstract (EN)
Environmental pollution also creates serious occupational health and safety problems. Agricultural fires are widely used application all over the world for easier and more economical processing of agricultural land and for preparing for the next planting. However, in addition to the causing of very serious environmental problems, this practice also brings important occupational health and safety concerns. The resulting problems are also closely affected by climatic factors. As in many other parts of our country, stubble fires starting from June to November are widespread in the Mediterranean Region where agricultural areas are very wide and intensive agricultural activities are carried out. Various environmental problems resulting from stubble burning also intensively affects the quality of life of the people living in the region. In this study, various environmental effects of pollution on human health and livelihood caused by stubble fires have been evaluated in terms of occupational health and safety. For this purpose, the seasonal variations of different pollutant parameters obtained from 5 different Air Quality Measurement Stations in Eastern Mediterranean region were examined. By considering the nature of agricultural fires, hazards and hazard related risks were also determined. The results showed that stubble fires cause serious health and safety problems.
