Abstract (EN)
44 experimental stubble fires were conducted under the weather and fuel conditions to gather quantitative data on fire spread and fire intensity, and develop fire behavior models. During the experimental stubble fires, air temperature varied from 28 to 37 ºC, relative humidity from 11 to 37%, and 10-m open wind speed from 1.0 to 23 km h-1. Stubble fuel load ranged from 0,2 to 0.64 kg m-2. After the agricultural harvest, range of stubble cover varid from 70% to 95%. Stubble fuel depth was changed 10 cm to 35 cm.Stubble fuel moisture content varied from 3% to 19%. The rate of fire spread varied from 1.0 to 30 m min–1 in the stubble fires. Fire line intensity ranged from 118 to 4612 kW m-1. Wind speed and stubble fuel moisture content were the most important factors on both rate of spread and fire line intensity and explained 72% of the observed variation in the rate of spread and 79% of the observed variation in fire line intensity respectively. These regression models should be useful for the prediction of rate of spread and fire intensitiy in similar stubble characteristics.
