Determination of some biological parameters of Aphis craccivoraKoch (Hemiptera: Aphididae) on different bean varieties

Bean aphid (Aphis craccivora Koch.) is the most struggled harmful species in bean production (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) which has the most selective legumes in terms of environmental conditions. In this study, it was objective to determine the tolerant and sensitivity versus to harmful Aphis craccivora by examining some biological parameters of ÖzayĢe, Ezgi, Helda and Göynük bean cultivars which are cultivated and produced nowadays. The study was carried out in the Entomology Laboratory of the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, Dicle University in the spring of 2019. The research was carried out in a test cabinet where the temperature was 25 ± 1 ° C, proportional humidity 60 ± 5% and 16 hours light and 8 hours dark conditions. Nymph growth periods of Aphis craccivora was determined and the differences between the varieties were statistically significant. The data obtained from the study, in the bean cultivars of Aphis craccivora; in terms of pre-adult development time Ezgi and Helda varieties (5.21 days), in terms of hereditary reproductive ability (rm) Helda cultivar (0.278556), in terms of net reproduction rate (r0) (13.22) and total life duration (9.12) demonstrate that the Göynük variety came to the forefront. As a result, it was found that Göynük and Ezgi varieties were sensitive to Aphis craccivora whereas Helda and ÖzayĢe varieties were tolerant. In this study carried out under laboratory conditions, it is recommended not to cultivate Göynük and Ezgi varieties in the fields where bean cultivation is carried out if the durable and sensitive varieties we have identified are similar in field conditions. It is recommended to growth ÖzayĢe and Helda bean varieties which are determined to be tolerant to Aphis craccivora.
