Abstract (EN)
Ara Nesil, composed of writers and poets active between roughly 1880-1896, is not yet a fully and correctly positioned period in the history of Turkish literature. Ara Nesil, which is considered both as a period and as a literary community, gives the impression that it will be evaluated as it should be in the history of literature with the increasing studies in recent years. In this thesis, it is aimed to contribute to the studies of determining the place and importance of the period in the history of literature, based on the novels published as books. Accordingly, the steps of the transition from romanticism to realism are seen in Ara Nesil novels as the preparer of Servet-i Fünun. With the changes in the elements such as type, narrator and place in the Tanzimat novel, the way of the novel Servet-i Fünûn was opened. In Ara Nesil novels, the expansion in the geography of literature and the increase in intertextual relations are also striking. Keywords: Novel, Ara Nesil, realism, romanticism
