Abstract (EN)

Salt stress is one of the abiotic stresses that affects plant growth and performance. Disruption of balance in metabolic processes resulting from salt stress, there usually be an increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. These molecules have a signalling role up to a certain level but when that level is exceeded, they are harmful for biomolecules. These ROS's are affecting processes like photosynthesis and respiration causing inhibition of plant growth and even cell death. Mitochondria is a major ROS source in the cell along with chloroplast. Complex II of mitochondri (Succinate dehydrogenase, SDH) localizes in the inner membrane of mitochondria, operating in both TCA cycle and ETC. Previously works on mammal and plants showed that SDH derived ROS has signalling role in cellular growth and defence responses. But there is no information on how SDH regulating cellular redox. In our work, using a spesific inhibitor of SDH, malonate, our intent is to investigate how SDH is regulating cellular redox under salt stress.
