Scope of vehicle inspection and investigation of traffic accidents

Many people lose their lives due to traffic accidents in our country. When the accidents were examined; it is seen that it occurs due to the factors originating from roads, vehicles, drivers and pedestrians. While well-established engineering solutions come to the fore in preventing road-related accidents, driver- and pedestrian-related accidents can be prevented with basic training. In order to reduce vehicle-related accidents, it is important that, in addition to engineering solutions, the people who carry out the repairs are trained in this field. In this thesis study, the analysis of accidents caused by vehicles between 2015 and 2022 and the controls of the technical problems that caused these accidents during the inspection process were examined. In the study based on these years, it is seen that most fatal and injured accidents are caused by the braking system in vehicles. It is seen that the most common serious defects in the vehicles inspected at the vehicle inspection station are the brake system, and detailed checks are made regarding these defects during the vehicle inspection. Although there has been a decrease in accidents caused by vehicles through vehicle inspection over the years, it is obvious that accidents continue. Considering that despite all these checks, accidents caused by vehicles cannot be completely prevented, it has been seen that vehicle inspection alone will not be sufficient to prevent accidents.
