Abstract (EN)
In this research, bioactivity studies on the essential oil obtained from Juniperus communis L. were investigated and in the wiev of these information, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of the essential oil obtained from juniper berries by hydrodistilation and four essential oils purchased from pharmacies were tested. Physical and chemical properties of essential oil samples were analyzed according to Turkish Pharmacopeia 2017. The results from antimicrobial study by disc diffusion metod indicated that only the essential oil obtained from juniper berries by hydrodistilation was active against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and Candida krusei fungus. The antioxidant activity of the samples on DPPH assay was low compared to α-tocopherol. In the analyzes of physical and chemical properties of the esential oils, it was concluded that 3 of 4 commercial samples had impurities.
